This is shocking. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton called president elect Donald Trump on Nov. 9 to concede the 2016 presidential election. Get the details on her concession right here.
Hillary Clinton, 69, called Donald Trump, 70, to concede the 2016 presidential election on early in the hours of Nov. 9, CNN reported. The news outlet cited sources in the Hillary campaign just minutes after her campaign chairman John Podesta told her supporters in New York City that she would not be speaking until the morning, as votes were still coming in. The Democratic presidential nominee lost to Donald in one of the biggest upsets in American history.
“Well folks, it’s been a long night and it’s been a long campaign, but I can say we can wait a little long, can’t we? ” John had told the supporters at the Javits Center. “They’re still counting votes and every vote should count,” the former White House Chief of Staff said at 2:02 a.m. ET. “Several states are too close to call so we’re not going to have anything more to say tonight.”
“We’ll have more to say tomorrow,” he said as he admitted that Hillary would not be out to speak tonight. “We’ll be back, we’ll have more to say, let’s get those votes counted and let’s bring this home.” But, it appears that once it seemed that Donald had the amount of electoral votes needed to win the entire election after gaining 10 from the state of Wisconsin, Hillary decided to make that phone call. We are sure that was a very hard phone call for Hillary to make and we can’t imagine what it must have felt like to speak to the man who had attacked her so many times.
